CFB: Arizona State and UNLV to meet in 2020, 2021

A member of the Mountain West Conference, the University of Nevada-Las Vegas Fighting Rebels and PAC-12’s Arizona State Sun Devils, reached an agreement on playing a two-game series in 2020 and 2021, alternating between soon-to-be renovated Sam Boyd Stadium and Sun Devil Stadium.

Arizona State A.D. Ray Anderson on sharing a series with UNLV:

“We are excited to announce this series with UNLV. With our scheduling philosophy we are always looking to schedule home-and-home series with selected institutions within our geographical footprint. UNLV as an institution and Las Vegas as a destination fit that perfectly. We believe our fan base will enjoy this series.”

The meeting with UNLV in 2020 fulfills ASU’s non-conference schedule pertaining to that year. Non-conference opponents of ASU in 2020 will be Northern Arizona and BYU, who reached agreement in 2014 to host one another in a home-and-home scenario.

Meanwhile, UNLV will enlist in 2020 competition with programs, Louisiana Tech and Iowa State. Both ASU and UNLV have one void to fill in 2020 (UNLV) and 2021 (ASU).

The previous meeting between the two football programs was in 2008 when UNLV added one to their win column, edging ASU in OT, 23-20.
