Florida State University and the University of Alabama will meet each other in the 2017 Chick-fil-A Kickoff, and will get paid a lot of money to do so.
Per Safid Deen of the Tallahassee Democrat, each school will receive $5 million for appearing in the game.
Simply put, it should be a great matchup. Thanks to Jimbo Fisher, FSU has once again become the ACC staple it was for years under longtime coach Bobby Bowden, and Alabama is continually in the national title hunt with Nick Saban at the helm.
Moreover, teams getting a lot of money has become par for the course for big games like this one. FSU is set to play Ole Miss in Orlando in 2016, and will get $3.5 million for it. When the University of Florida plays Michigan to kick things off in 2017, the school is probably getting $6 million.
Bottom line: the game has become one of numbers, and big ones at that!
