Football players have celebrated touchdowns in a number of ways. Chad Johnson (formerly Ochocinco) did everything from Riverdance to propose to a cheerleader on the sideline, Terrell Owens signed a football and gave it to a fan, and Rob Gronkowsky, well, Gronks.
But the Jacksonville Sharks of the Arena Football League took celebrating to a new level during yesterday’s blowout win against the Tampa Bay Storm. In a video posted to BroBible, Jacksonville receiver Tiger Jones celebrated his receiving touchdown by performing the “People’s Elbow” to one of his teammates, paying tribute to former WWE legend Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
This is the post that makes you long for the pre-Roger Goodell NFL. If any NFL player tried this today, they’d likely be fined millions of dollars, only after the referees penalized them multiple times for excessive celebration.
It’s nice to know that, at least in Arena Football, there are people who still think the game should be fun above all else!
