Miami Hurricanes sophomore running back Joe Yearby has returned to school and team activities. Yearby posted his return on Instagram, which was subsequently posted by Wes McDonald on Twitter.
Yearby had been suspended for Miami’s spring game for breaking curfew and there were rumors swirling about whether or not he would return to school after he skipped voluntary workouts.
But now it seems that Yearby will indeed be back with the Hurricanes for his sophomore season after appearing in 12 games as a freshman and running for 509 yards and a touchdown on 86 carries. Now that Duke Johnson belongs to the NFL, fans can expect Yearby’s role to greatly expand in 2015.
So long as he keeps his head up in practice and doesn’t find himself in trouble again, Yearby could be poised for a breakout season.
Miami opens the season at home against the MEAC’s Bethune-Cookman Wildcats on September 5.
