Stars of ‘VEEP’ making a comedy about college football

Two stars of the popular HBO series “Veep” are bringing a comedy about college football to the big screen.

Matt Walsh, who plays Press Secretary Mike McClintock, and Timothy Simons, who plays White House aide Jonah Ryan on the HBO hit are bringing their comedic talents to bear on a script called “Red Shirt” about the world of college football.

Walsh has written a number of scripts throughout his career, while this will be Simons’ first time writing a feature.

No word yet on any details about the plot, as the project is still in its very early stages, but with Ben Stiller’s Red Hour Films on board to produce, and the writing duo’s talent for comedy, chances are college football fans will get a chance to see the lighter side of their favorite sport that should be good for a few laughs.

What do you think? Is it high time college football got the comedic treatment on the big screen? Or is The Program the only college football movie you’ll ever need? Let us know in the comments section below, and keep an eye out for more news about Red Shirt.
