Florida State Seminoles defensive back Jalen Ramsey is versatile and strong enough to play safety, according to head coach Jimbo Fisher, but he is a cornerback on the NFL level. Fisher stated this opinion to ESPN’s Joe Schad.
Jimbo Fisher says Jalen Ramsey can play safety but is an NFL cornerback. Like Xavier Rhodes but faster. Taller.

Ramsey certainly is a unique talent, with good size for either position at 6-foot-1, 201 pounds and he also stars on the track team, with his eyes set on the Olympics in 2016.
Then, there are the amazing numbers Ramsey has put up in two seasons in Tallahassee. He has 128 total tackles, four sacks, three interceptions and even three forced fumbles, plus a defensive touchdown.
This young man is obviously a hard hitter with insane athletic abilities, and that’s only going to help him on the professional level.
But even though Ramsey almost definitely could play safety if called upon, his long and lean frame makes him more ideal at corner.
