4-star SDSU WR Desean Holmes is MIA, per coaches

San Diego State Aztecs four-star wide receiver signee Desean Holmes has not yet reported to campus and coaches have not heard from him in three weeks. Tod Leonard of The San Diego Union-Tribune reported Holmes’ absence.

Aztecs head football coach Rocky Long spoke to Leonard and expressed his great concern.

“We cannot find him,” Long said. “The kid won’t answer his phone, won’t call us back. We don’t know where he is.”

It’s certainly unsettling, as one cannot help but assume something has happened if someone has not been heard from for an extended period of time.

Hopefully, Holmes is OK and his radio silence can be attributed to college jitters rather than something more serious. He has not been active on Twitter since April and is due on campus next week for the start of camp.

This story is still very much in the early stages, but Campus Sports will update Holmes’ story as more details become available.

San Diego State has gone 32-20 (22-9 Mountain West) in four seasons under Long and opens the season at home against its in-city rival, the Pioneer League’s San Diego Toreros on September 5.
