Lou Holtz believes Notre Dame can make CFB Playoff

If there is one thing you can always count on when it comes to Lou Holtz, it is the relentless promotion and true love for his Notre Dame Fighting Irish. So, his recent comments should come as no surprise.

When speaking to WNDU, Holtz shared his belief that the Fighting Irish have a “legitimate” chance to reach this year’s College Football Playoff.

“I do believe Notre Dame has a legitimate chance this year to be one of the Final Four,” Holtz said. “I think they are very talented. They return so many athletes. Defensively they are going to be much improved. I was very impressed with Malik Zaire against LSU.”

One thing that Holtz believes will help Notre Dame’s efforts is an easier schedule.

“I think the schedule is a little bit easier,” Holtz said. “You have Virginia, Wake Forest, Massachusetts and Temple. Everything fits and the difficult games you played at home.”

Holtz is a noted Notre Dame homer, but he does have some points.

So could the Fighting Irish reach the College Football Playoff this season or could their lack of a conference hurt them? Sound off in the comments section below with your thoughts.
