Subway spokesman Jared Fogle’s life has gone from being one filled with plenty of money and fame to an absolute nightmare. The change started on July 7th when Fogle’s Indiana home was raided in connection with a child pornography case. Now, the story has gotten even more twisted and Fogle looks even worse than he originally did.
According to a report from Business Insider, the FBI has subpoenaed text messages between Fogle and a former Subway franchisee. Those text messages reportedly claim that Fogle paid to have sex with a 16-year-old girl.
Following those text messages, the franchisee reported the concerning and disturbing messages to Subway management, but nothing was done at the time to bring them to the authorities. The franchisee’s lawyer said that the FBI had subpoenaed his law office for the conversation between Fogle and his client.
Assuming this does end up being true and he did send the texts about having sex with a 16-year-old, Fogle has gone from a person of interest to a criminal.
In addition to the messages about the 16-year-old girl, Fogle also reportedly asked the franchisee to put ads up on CraigsList in hopes of finding other men to perform sexual acts with her. He wanted to watch her with other men, and was reportedly in a sexual relationship with her at the same time. At this point in time, the FBI has not confirmed or denied the report that a subpoena for the messages exists.
After the original raid of Fogle’s home, Subway suspended their relationship with Fogle. Subway has taken every mention of Fogle’s name off of their website and commercials. It doesn’t appear that there will be any reunion between the two sides either with the way that this investigation is going.
Fogle still has yet to be charged with anything, and there has been no official word on whether or not an investigation is currently underway into him. That being said, these type of reports certainly make it seem like something is going on behind the scenes and that it is just a matter of time before Fogle is arrested on some charge. Reports also state that Fogle asked to be introduced to the 16-year-old cousin of a former Subway franchisee in May of 2008.
Obviously it will be interesting to keep an ear open as this situation continues to unfold. It certainly seems like Fogle is guilty of more than what many expected when the raid of his house was first reported. Hopefully he is found out if he did indeed perform the acts that he is being accused of, and is brought to justice.
