The Dominique Hatfield saga continues, as the former Utah cornerback has been formally charged with misdemeanor assault, stemming from an incident that occurred at a party last month. Josh Furlong of KSL.com reported the development.
Per the probable cause statement, as was reported by Furlong, Hatfield was rolling marijuana at the party and continued to do so after being asked to stop. The situation went from bad to worse, as Hatfield and others allegedly grabbed the victim and hit him in the face and all over his body. He was left with cuts on his face and bruises around his eyes as well as his shoulders and back.
Naturally, Hatfield was subsequently dismissed from the program. In two seasons with the Utes, he had 45 tackles and one interception, which was returned for a touchdown. He also saw time as wide receiver.
Utes coach Kyle Whittingham mentioned last month that Hatfield returning to the team was a possibility, but the new information and charges make that seem highly unlikely at this point.
