The WWE Divas Division has experienced a revolution over the past few weeks, namely with a stable that features two-time Divas champion Paige teamed up with former NXT stars Becky Lynch and Charlotte (daughter of WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair). The trio called themselves the “Submission Sorority” due to their finishing moves all being submission holds, but that’s all about to change.
According to Matt Boone of SE Scoops, that name is already taken by an adult website and thus, because WWE chairman Vince McMahon and his creative team couldn’t be bothered to simply Google the term and see if there was anything not PG-rated attached to it, the name is about to be changed.
One new name that has been thrown around for the three ladies is “The Submission Sisters,” but nothing is official yet. Either way, the original name was stated on live national television and, according to Boone, traffic for the website BangBros shot up so highly after the mention that an analyst for the company joked about sending McMahon a fruit basket.
Oddly enough, this is not the first time that WWE has had a name attached to something on the racy side. Longtime company face and current United States Champion John Cena has a signature move called “Five Knuckle Shuffle,” a euphemism for masturbation. Despite that, the name has stuck.
But at the same time, WWE clearly doesn’t want to get itself in a potential trademark war with an adult website. Thus, it’s best for everyone involved that Paige, Lynch and Charlotte’s team name be changed.
