Video: Nick Saban takes incoming freshmen tubing

Alabama is unlike any college football program in the country, especially since the arrival of head coach Nick Saban.

Since Saban’s arrival in 2007, the Alabama Crimson Tide have produced 85 wins, 19 consensus All-Americans, 4 Heisman trophy finalists, 3 national titles, and 1 Heisman winner. What is the secret to his success? Fun.

In a video posted from Alabama’s twitter, we can see incoming freshman go tubing with Saban at his house on Lake Tuscaloosa:

Although this just reads as a “short trip before the season starts,” it seems like much more than that. Gestures like these from Saban set a precedent about how this team operates as whole, inviting players to an outing with the coach before the season starts shows his value of team building at Alabama.

Whether it be working out in the gym mid-season or getting a bite to eat after OTAs, Saban wants his players to know how important team chemistry is to building a successful program, and all it starts before they even play a snap.
