Aldo-McGregor set for Dec. 12 at MGM Grand in Las Vegas

The UFC featherweight title unification bout finally has a date.

According to Yahoo! Sports, UFC president Dana White has announced that Jose Aldo vs. Conor McGregor will take place on Dec. 12 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The event will be UFC 194.

There was initially some discussion that Aldo vs. McGregor could be paired with Ronda Rousey vs. Miesha Tate III to form a super card at AT&T Stadium.

However, Las Vegas is the fight capital of the world, so the big money fights always find their way back.

The UFC initially had a Dec. 5 date scheduled for the December pay-per-view, but an Andrea Bocelli concert was booked for MGM so officials wanted to move across the street to Mandalay Bay.

The UFC wasn’t having that, so they used AT&T Stadium as leverage.

Now, the event will take place one week later with the highly anticipated bout between Aldo and McGregor. There is some talk that a heavyweight championship rematch between Fabricio Werdum and Cain Velasquez could co-headline the card.

As for the Rousey vs. Tate trilogy fight, that is likely to take place at UFC 195 on Jan. 2 to kick off 2016.
