Gary Trent Jr. won’t graduate high school for another two years, but he is already drawing quite a bit of interest from universities and with his recently released summer mixtape, that interest is only going to grow.
A five-star, 6-foot-4 shooting guard who currently stars at Minnesota’s Apple Valley High School, near the Twin Cities, Trent has already received a number of offers from different schools including Duke, Kansas, Kentucky, Arizona, Ohio State and Michigan State, among others.
His father, Gary Sr., played at Ohio University and earned the nickname “Shaq of the MAC” for his explosive style of play before being drafted into the NBA and spending nine seasons there before heading to Europe to play in Greece and Italy.
Gary Jr. is a shooting guard and not a power forward, like his father was, but he is still a strong enough scorer and shooter that he’ll make an immediate impact wherever he decides to play his college ball.
