Cal Golden Bears five-star freshman Ivan Rabb may have been a skinny 6-foot-11, 220 pounds when he arrived on campus six weeks ago, and what he looks like now should give fans plenty of confidence that he’ll be able to hang with the best on the collegiate level.
As was reported by Rob Dauster of NBC Sports’ College Basketball Talk, Rabb has added 12 pounds of muscle to his frame in just 44 days.via CFT
Considering how Cal is looking for him to be its go-to guy at center while guys like Jabari Bird, Jaylen Brown, Tyrone Wallace and Jordan Matthews handle the perimeter, his new build means he should have zero problems playing extended minutes and getting tossed around in the paint.
He still has a lot to learn re adapting to the collegiate level, but Rabb is clearly a smart player in that he knew his conditioning and strength would have to improve if he was going to make an immediate impact in the Pac-12.
With the team expected to look even better in its second year under Cuonzo Martin, look for Rabb to turn a lot of heads in the 2015-16 season.
