Maryland Terrapins starting linebacker Abner Logan has a torn ACL and will miss all of the 2015 season. Terps coach Randy Edsall announced the news on Twitter earlier today.
A compactly-built junior at 6-foot-1, 242 pounds, Logan was expected to be the team’s starting outside linebacker this season. He appeared in seven games last year after missing the first six due to suspension.
In two years in College Park, Logan has 42 total tackles, two of which were for a loss. Since he is out for the season, his spot will likely be taken over by junior Brock Dean, transfer Jefferson Ashiru or sophomore Jalen Brooks.
Regardless of who takes over for Logan, however, he is a special kind of talent whose skill set will be greatly missed this season as Maryland looks to continue righting the ship under Edsall.
The Terps open the season at home against the CAA’s Richmond Spiders on September 5.
