Fresno State first in the nation with its own blimp

In an obnoxious marketing maneuver by Mountain West members, Fresno State’s athletic department is investing in a half-football-long blimp to provide aerial coverage entitled Bulldog1, which will makes its maiden flight on August 17th.

Fresno State’s Senior Assoc. A.D., Paul Ladwig:

“We were looking for a unique visual splash to kick off the 2015 athletic season. The blimp Bulldog1 will make that splash. By partnering with the best aerial marketing firm, we are able to use this iconic platform to engage our Bulldog community.”

“You’re always looking to do something that nobody else has done. Having the only collegiate blimp in the country to brand and market your programs is a tremendous tool.”

Fresno State and Boling Air Media agreed on a five-year usage of the 150-foot airship, which was privately-funded and is believed to make other appearances than just airing it out over Bulldog Stadium in Fresno, Calif.

During its tour over Fresno State in a few days, Bulldog1 will traverse the skies of Fresno State’s main fanbase, Red Wave. To continue its promotional campaign, the helium-filled, balloon-like structure will also record additional flight hours for the remainder of August.
