Middle Tennessee State University has dismissed guard DJ Jones from its basketball program, per the Associated Press.
The university athletic department announced that Jones had been dismissed “for violating department policy,” and Blue Raiders head coach Kermit Jones stated that “we were all pushing for DJ to do well” and “we wish DJ all the best.”
Based on Coach Jones’ words, it appears that Jones may have been dismissed for an academic issue. Of course, that is pure speculation as to why the Chicago native was dismissed.
DJ Jones had also spent two years at Southwest Tennessee Community College before arriving in Murfreesboro. In his sole year with the team, he averaged 4.6 points and 1.1 rebounds over 10.6 minutes per game, playing in 27 games and starting two.
Of course, Campus Sports will update this story as more information becomes available.
