Despite opening the 2014 season with a four-game win streak, the Oklahoma Sooners kept their heads mostly on a swivel for the remainder of last season with discouraging outcomes, including a post-season disassembling by Clemson in the Russell Athletic Bowl (L 6-40) and a near-loss to an ill-matured Texas Longhorns squad.
But erasing last year’s travesty, a fan of the Boomer Sooner legacy revels onward to the 2015 season as a means of the program’s rebirth and that “Nothing Else Matters” other than a school engulfed in 107 years of tradition.
The Oklahoma Sooners also experienced a couple of personnel changes, including Blake Bell’s transition to tight end, which may have done more harm than good to the Sooners considering an inexperienced Trevor Knight, who spent most of last year fending off Katy Perry. On special teams, kicker Michael Hunnicutt missed a few opportune shots in 3-pointers, which may have tacked on additional wins on the left side.
But with a little overcast, there’s always a sunrise waiting to blossom. And for Oklahoma, Samaje “Optimus” Perine is a substantial enough reason for Sooner Nation to be hyped for the upcoming season.
Without further delay, the video features snippets of Barry Switzer, the maroon-painted Schooner that jogs home field every pre-game and includes subliminal highlights from last year, marked by Sterling Shepherd’s frog leap.
