YouTube’s first 1M viewer video featured Nike’s Ronaldinho

In the historic days of YouTube – flashing back a shuttering decade – not many individuals flooded its streams with the pranks, how-to’s and vlogs that over-populate YouTube’s traffic today. But today marked the 10th anniversary of YouTube’s first video to climb the one million viewer milestone – and rightfully so.

In its hayday of Joga Bonito, an online community of soccer players that could post viral videos, Nike launched a YouTube campaign in 2005 of Ronaldinho test driving his golden, alligator leather Tiempo boots.

Aside from Diego Maradona, Ronaldinho is one of the most legendary futbol players to wear number 10 – and for those who don’t know, number 10 in soccer is typically reserved for a squad’s best player.

The Brazilian soccer maestro, who spent most of his tenure with La Liga’s Barcelona and now plays for Fluminese, always flusters and disorients the opposing team’s defenders. And even when it’s not Halloween, the trickery Ronaldinho pulled off will eternally be uncontested.
