Oklahoma State head coach Travis Ford has been revamping his staff this offseason and it’s finally complete. Rob Dauster of NBC Sports is reporting that Ford will hire Bill Grier as his newest assistant coach.
“I couldn’t be more excited to have someone with such an impressive reputation and coaching resume joining the Cowboy family,” Ford said. “He’s always been regarded as a top-notch recruiter and tactician of the game.”
Grier was previously the head coach at San Diego, but was let go in early March.
During his tenure, he compiled a below .500 record of 117-144 and only one NCAA tournament appearance. You may remember him from the point shaving scandal that involved one of his former assistants.
“I am very excited to join Travis Ford’s coaching staff and become a part of the Cowboy family,” Grier said. “It’s a tremendous honor to be part of a program with such great history and support and I look forward to competing in the prestigious Big 12 Conference.”
Ford is looking to turn things around in Stillwater after rumors surfaced of him being on the hot seat.
