Baylor QB Chris Johnson moving to receiver

At long last, there is news out of Baylor that doesn’t have anything to do with the controversy surrounding how much coach Art Briles knew about Sam Ukwuachu’s past. As was reported in a post on Reddit that has since been confirmed true thanks to a report from Shehan Jeyarajah of the Dallas Morning News, it appears that quarterback Chris Johnson will be moving to wide receiver in order to make room for freshman Jarrett Stidham.

A former star and four-star recruit out of Bryan High School, near College Station, Johnson has size at 6-foot-4, 210 pounds and runs the 40 in 4.5 seconds. A dual-threat QB, he should make the transition to receiver fairly easily.

Stidham is a four-star freshman out of Stephenville, Texas, about a two-hour drive from Dallas, and is also a dual-threat quarterback. This season, he will likely play behind starter Seth Russell, with Johnson’s move to wideout creating less of a logjam.

Baylor opens the season on the road against SMU on September 4.
