Oregon Ducks name Vernon Adams starting QB

Former Eastern Washington Eagles quarterback Vernon Adams will take over the reigns for the Oregon Ducks, who lost Heisman trophy winner Marcus Mariota to the Tennessee Titans.

The decision by the coaching staff also means putting junior Jeff Lockie on the back burner.

Vernon Adams will find his targets in wide receivers Byron Marshall (2014 – 74 receptions, 1,003 yards, 6 TD) and Dwayne Standford (43 receptions, 639 yards, 6 TD).

Standing alongside Oregon’s new playmaker will be Royce Freeman, who rushed over 1,300 yards and met the endzone 18 times.

Coincidentally enough, the Oregon Ducks’ first match-up is with Eastern Washington on Sept. 5 at 8:00 p.m. ET.
