Purdue suspends Gelen Robinson for 2 games

Purdue has suspended sophomore defensive end Gelen Robinson for the first two games of the season following his June arrest for drunk driving.

This was not the first time that Robinson had been in trouble, as he had been cited for minor consumption last summer and had entered a “diversion agreement” which meant not only could he not drink alcohol, but he could not even go to a bar or liquor store. It was terrible timing for Robinson as he was arrested in June, and the agreement was set to expire this month.

And now it is time for him to pay the piper, specifically in the form of missing the Boilermakers’ first two games of the season against Marshall and Indiana State. He showed fine potential as a true freshman last year, appearing in 10 games and posting 20 tackles along with two sacks.

Hopefully, he gets his head screwed on straight and can stay on the field for the rest of the season following his suspension.
