Everett Golson has been named Florida State’s starting quarterback for the 2015 season. ESPN’s Mark Schlabach reported the decision on Twitter.
And now Notre Dame transfer Everett Golson has been named #FSU's starting QB, which isn't much of a surprise

A graduate transfer from Notre Dame, Golson beat out junior Sean Maguire for the starting job under center. This isn’t exactly a surprise as despite leading the Seminoles to an overtime win against Clemson last season, when Jameis Winston was suspended, Maguire has seen little to no playing time outside of stepping in for Winston during a major blowout victory.
Golson, on the other hand, started for the Fighting Irish for two seasons, posting 5,850 passing yards and 41 touchdowns along with 581 yards and 14 scores on the ground. He isn’t as elite a quarterback as Winston, nor as strong an athlete, but his ability to create offense with his legs as well as his arm should make for a smoother transition out of the Winston Era.
Florida State opens the season at home against Texas State on Saturday.
