Middle Tennessee head coach Rick Stockstill announced Monday that his son, redshirt freshman Brent Stockhill, will start for the Blue Raiders against Jackson State, according to the American Press.
After only completing two passes for 41 yards in the season opener last year, Brent Stockhill was redshirted.
Last year’s starter Austin Grammer, a redshirt junior, threw for 2,557 yards last season with 17 touchdowns and 12 interceptions, while gaining 442 yards and six touchdowns on the ground. Grammar led Middle Tennessee to a 6-6 record.
Although he named his son the starter, Stockstill said both quarterbacks will play on Satruday; however, like ever good parent, Stockstill seems to have more faith in his son.
After competing throughout summer camp, Stockstill told The Daily News Journal that the coaches believe Brent Stockstill was more productive.
