Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops announced Monday that true freshman Austin Seibert will handle both field goal kicking and punting responsibilities for the Sooner’s first game against Akron on Saturday, according to reports from Jason Kersey.
Last year as a senior at Belleville West (Ill.) High School, Seibert also handled field goal kicking and punting duties, hitting 13 field goals with a long of 51 yards and averaging almost 45 yards per punt.
Seibert, who was a nationally ranked kicker and punter coming out of high school, competed with senior kicker Nick Hodgson and junior punter Jack steed this offseason.
Although Seibert won both jobs, Stoops said Hodgson will continue to handle kickoff duties.
