Tennessee defensive lineman Andrew Butcher arrested

The Tennessee Volunteers’ depth has taken a hit along the defensive front, following the news that four-star defensive lineman Andrew Butcher was arrested.

According to reports from ABC affiliate WATE, for public intoxication and underage drinking.

The details indicate Butcher was placing himself and others in danger.

“Local authorities said 18-year-old Andrew Lee Butcher’s breath had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage, bloodshot watery eyes, slurred speech and was unsteady on his feet when they spotted him around 1:45 p.m,” the report read. “Butcher told police he was drinking beer and underage. Butcher is a ‘danger to himself and to others,’ court documents said.”

Butcher’s mugshot was also released.

It isn’t exactly the way that Butcher would have liked to start his freshman year on campus, but he will have plenty of time to redeem himself on the field.

The Vols have yet to comment on the situation.
