Markell Jones is expected to have a big freshman season for the Purdue Boilermakers and he hasn’t disappointed in his first game of the season. Purdue opened up their 2015 season this afternoon against Marshall and it didn’t take long for him to make a major impact on the field.
Purdue has struggled a bit against Marshall, but Jones was able to put his team up 28-24 with a beautiful 36-yard run for a touchdown.
If the Boilermakers want to contend for a winning record this season, they are going to need Jones and their running game to have a major impact. Austin Appleby isn’t a terrible quarterback, but he isn’t capable of powering an offense by himself. Jones is more than capable of breaking off big plays and he showed that in his first career college game.
Check out the 36-yard explosion that gave Purdue the lead in the third quarter for yourself.
Yup, he's a true freshman. Markell Jones explodes 36 yards for his first career touchdown. #PURDUEvsMARSHALLhttps://t.co/kcAC9v6oZF
