Bowling Green player fakes injury after losing shoe

The season opener between the Bowling Green State Falcons and Tennessee Volunteers took something of an interesting turn at one point, as Bowling Green defensive lineman Mike Minns lost his shoe in the middle of a drive. He tried to alert the ref, but the ref wouldn’t give him time to put the shoe back on.

Thus, Minns did what any smart football player would do in such a situation: fake an injury to stop the clock! Video of Minns’ genius can be seen here.

Though some may call Minns’ actions bush-league, can you really blame the guy? Football is a major contact sport, and getting your foot stomped by the cleat of either someone running at high speed or trying hard to block could cause a potentially devastating injury. If you think about it, Minns was really just looking out for both himself and his team.

But it looks like karma came back to bite Minns for faking an injury, as Tennessee still scored on the drive to make the score 21-3 in favor of the Vols.
