Louisville true freshman Lamar Jackson becomes starting QB

True freshman quarterback Lamar Jackson was listed as lone starter for Louisville after Auburn struggled to contain his speedy tactics on Saturday. Louisville head coach, Bobby Petrino kept Auburn’s staff guessing all week by declining to name a starting quarterback for Saturday’s season opener.

Sophomore Reggie Bonnafon got the call. He was sacked three times to help build a 17-0 first half lead. Petrino decided to give Jackson a shot and was pleased with the results.

Jackson stayed at quarterback for the remainder of the game. He rushed 16 times for 106 yards and a touchdown. Bonnafon was the more accurate thrower in the game but Jackson added another dimension with his legs.

Next week’s game against Houston will be tough but Petrino has confidence in his decision of starting Lamar Jackson.

Lamar Jackson listed as the starter on Louisville's pre-Houston depth chart per @UofLSheriff50. No "Or" this week.
