The LSU Tigers and their fans were pretty bummed Saturday night when they were forced to cancel the season opener against McNeese State due to inclement weather. The game won’t be made up, so, for the second year in a row, an SEC team won’t be able to win more than 11 games in the regular season.
One football analyst believes that the canceled game against the Cowboys could hurt the Tigers when it comes to the College Football Playoff at the end of the year.
Fox Sports analyst Tim Brando took to Twitter and said that the Tigers’ canceled game will probably cost them a shot at the national championship, granted that they have a great season.
It's worth noting its Labor Day & McNeese St. isn't Idaho. LSU should have done everything possible to have played today IMO. Any thoughts?

Oh and for the record if LSU winds up 11-1 instead of 12-1 it matters!

LSU fans and other members of the media responded to Brando’s claim and he took offense to some of their comments.
@smansf1 LSU is hurt by not playing the game period. Thanks for the Intel. Simply an observation.

.@CodyWorsham sorry you don't get it.LSU's now facing (provided they have a great season) a BIG12 dilemma. Don't get it? Fans don't have to.

@tide_4_life 12-1 beats 11-1 every time with the Committee that's blueprint is much more like hoops than you think. Oh, and goodbye for good

.@RandallPinkLSU @CodyWorsham there's a precedent for that? Somehow I seemingly missed it.

.@CodyWorsham again missed seeing that rule from Bill Hancock.I've been pleasant with this conversation piece. It's over though. Best wishes

If he was offended by those fans, here’s one more that he can get mad at: I’m sorry, Mr. Brando, but you’re an idiot. I respect you, outside of you having an agenda against the Tigers, but do you honestly believe that the CFP committee will leave an SEC team out of the championship playoff?
There is only one way an 11-1 SEC Champion doesn’t make the CFP and that’s if four other Power Five Conference teams go undefeated, which is highly unlikely. Also, a win over an FCS team that hasn’t made it past the second round of the playoffs in over a decade won’t make much of a difference in the voters’ eyes.
It’s going to be a crazy season, but if the selection committee leaves an SEC team out of the Playoff, it will be a cold day in hell.
