The Ohio State Buckeyes are without question the nation’s number one team and have backed that up with a strong showing against the Virginia Tech Hokies this evening. After struggling a bit in the first half, the Buckeyes have come out in the second half and absolutely destroyed the Hokies on both sides of the football.
J.T. Barrett didn’t get the starting nod at quarterback, but Urban Meyer decided to plug him into the game for Cardale Jones in the fourth quarter.
Barrett promptly broke off an impressive 40-yard run and backed it up with an even better 26-yard touchdown pass to Michael Thomas. Both Barrett and Jones are capable of being high caliber starters, but Meyer made the right decision in starting the guy that led them to a National Championship last season. It wouldn’t be surprising to see Barrett get quite a bit more playing time throughout the season and he is helping his cause tonight.
