This isn’t at all a surprise, as the Maxwell Award is given out annually to the nation’s best college football player. In Week 1, Henry was that player for the Crimson Tide. On just 13 carries, the junior ran for 147 yards and three touchdowns as Alabama beat Wisconsin in Dallas, 35-17. At 6-foot-3, 242 pounds, the man is an absolute tank in the backfield and near-unstoppable.
Henry is already a Heisman candidate with that performance and plays on one of the best teams in the nation. Barring injury, he is definitely a contender for the Maxwell Award as well.
Alabama’s next test comes against Conference USA’s Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders on Saturday.
