Class of 2016 three-star power forward Yoeli Childs, out of Utah’s Bingham High School, near Salt Lake City, has decided to stay in-state with his commitment to the BYU Cougars. Childs’ decision was reported on Twitter by local AAU coach Tim Davis.
@UtahProspects congrats to Yoeli childs on committing to BYU. Proud of you bro!! @yochilds22

Standing 6-foot-7 and weighing 220 pounds, Childs had received offers from a number of schools including Auburn, Texas Tech, Utah State, Vanderbilt and Wyoming, among others. He will instead head to Provo and play for coach Dave Rose, who has gone 257-88 in ten years at BYU’s helm.
He’s a bit small for his position, but should be a significant impact player once he fills out and starts helping the Cougars continue to contend for NCAA Tournament berths.
