The 2015 college football season did not start as Ohio State Buckeyes quarterback J.T. Barrett would have planned. After competing with Cardale Jones all offseason long, Barrett learned that he would be relegated to backup duties.
However, despite being listed as No. 2 on the depth chart, Barrett has seen playing time in each of Ohio State’s first two games.
Perhaps even more impressive is the fact that Barrett has stayed positive through this all.
One reason for Barrett’s great focus and appreciation for any opportunity seems to come from his mother, who the signal-caller paid tribute to early this week with a special post on his Instagram account.
Barrett wrote, “Without her who knows where I’ll be, my #1 fan.”
This is great to see and it speaks volumes of Barrett’s character.
As long as he can keep his positive attitude and stay grounded like his mother taught him, his opportunity to once again lead the Buckeyes offense as a starter is going to come sooner rather than later.
By all accounts, that opportunity couldn’t be given to a better guy.
