The disturbing trend of behavior among high school football players continued in New Jersey recently, when high schools Immaculata and Linden faced off against one another. In this case, an Immaculata offensive lineman and a Linden defensive lineman got into a tangle during a play, and it ended with the Linden player ripping off the helmet of the Immaculata player before hitting him in the head with it.
Video of the incident can be seen below.
This is simply unacceptable and though no news of a suspension for the player who ripped off the helmet has been made public, to have him be penalized with anything less is too little.
From players targeting referees to now this, the state of the sport is starting to get ridiculous. Unless a major stand is taken by either the schools’ administrations or higher authorities, players will have an excuse to continue this despicable behavior.
