Tennessee’s Curt Maggitt out 8 weeks with hip injury

Tennessee Volunteers edge rusher Curt Maggitt will miss eight weeks after suffering a hip injury in last week’s loss to the Oklahoma Sooners. Vols coach Butch Jones made the announcement, which was reported on Twitter by Fox Sports’ Bruce Feldman.

Maggitt was a near-unstoppable force for Tennessee last year, posting 48 tackles and 11 sacks. Tennessee’s schedule over the next eight weeks includes games against the following teams: Western Carolina, Florida, Arkansas, Georgia, Alabama and Kentucky, plus a bye week. That said, barring a freakishly speedy recovery on Maggitt’s end, it’s looking like the boys from Knoxville could be in for a long season.

Campus Sports will update Maggitt’s recovery as any new information becomes available.
