Urban Meyer thanks fans, invites new fans to do ‘Quick Cals’

Thanks to faithful Buckeyes’ fans, Ohio State football held the nations highest attendance record last season. And Urban Meyer is helping keep that attendence high by getting first year Buckeyes involved in the excitement.

OSU released a “thank you” video following last Saturday’s first home game of the season–which the Buckeyes won 38-0 over Hawaii, no less–featuring the prolific head coach. He not only thanked the fan base that supported his team last season, but also invited new students to participate in tha fan-friendly “Quick Cals.”

The pre-game ritual, which Meyer started during his first season at OSU, involves the players doing a quick warmup facing the fans at the south end of the stadium and encouraging them to join in.

The exercise has since become a tradition, and Meyer even included a “new student tutorial” at the end of his “thank you” video so that more fans will be ready to participate at OSU’s next home game.

We can’t deny that this is a great way of making fans feel like part of the team.
