Auburn Tigers sophomore defensive end Carl Lawson remains sidelined by the hip injury he suffered in the team’s season opener against Louisville and did not travel to Baton Rouge this weekend. Brandon Marcello of AL.com reported the development on Twitter.

A former five-star recruit out of Georgia’s Milton High School, near Atlanta, Lawson had four tackles and a sack in the season opener against Louisville before suffering his injury. He sat out last weekend’s game against Jacksonville State, and Auburn’s defense looked average at best.
This also means that Auburn will be without the man who is arguably the team’s best defensive player against one of the better rushing attacks in the nation in the form of Leonard Fournette. LSU is a feisty team that was thrown right into the fire after inclement weather canceled its scheduled season opener against McNeese State, and the idea of going 2-0 and beating two straight SEC teams is just plain amazing.
Hopefully, Auburn manages to right the ship after last weekend’s near-upset and isn’t affected too much by Lawson not playing.
