Though the Ole Miss Rebels beat the Alabama Crimson Tide for the second year in a row last night, and in Tuscaloosa to boot, fans seemed more concerned about what ESPN commentator Kirk Herbstreit was saying during the game.
Apparently, fans took exception to Herbstreit saying how Alabama kept making mistakes instead of waxing poetic about their beloved Rebels, and Herbstreit took to Twitter to express his feelings.
Wow, didn't realize Ole Miss had a lunatic fringe that was so vocal. Think they'd be happy they just beat Bama in T-Town. #EmbarrassingFans

I didn't make a pick clown. Listen instead of hearing what you want to hear. I don't pick games I call. https://t.co/tysp9LrW4S

You're embarrassing yourself. Please stop and enjoy your victory. And to think I was a fan of Blindside. https://t.co/ObzPSTiCnn

That last tweet, of course, was in response to Leigh Anne Tuohy, who said the following beforehand.
I agree! I'm so sick of @KirkHerbstreit and @cbfowler acting like we were just lucky to be on the same field as Bama https://t.co/YRFjkg7L6s

Fortunately, Herbstreit knew that he crossed the line and then apologized this afternoon.
Like to apologize to @LeighAnneTuohy Its never my intent to be disrespectful to any1-just surprised to see some comments on my TL. Good luck

Very true. But I don't need to join in. I never do. You can only take so much rhetoric. https://t.co/44cCoJn1NS

Regardless of what happened, both parties are guilty here. Ole Miss fans should have just enjoyed the game and not blown up Herbstreit’s Twitter about how he and Chris Fowler were calling the game, and Herbstreit should not have fed the trolls.
At least now he knows for next time.
