The Purdue Boilermakers have started off the season 1-2 and they are already making some major changes. According to a report from Gold and Black on Twitter, the Boilermakers will be starting freshman quarterback David Blough this week against Bowling Green instead of Austin Appleby.

Most Purdue fans will be very happy to hear that Blough is taking over at the quarterback position. Appleby has been fairly poor this season and has been turning the football over way too much. Blough has been compared to Drew Brees by many of the Boilermakers fans and certainly does have the type of talent to become a star.
At 6-foot-1 and 202 pounds, Blough is very similar in size to Brees and it will be interesting to see how he looks in his first career college start.
Head coach Darrell Hazell is coaching for his job this season and this move shows that fact. He knows that Blough has the better arm and simply needs the young quarterback to come through with solid performances each and every week. Purdue doesn’t have to win a huge amount of games, but if they can win three or four more this season Hazell will be just fine for next year.
Blough definitely is a player to watch this week for the Boilermakers. Purdue definitely should knock off Bowling Green, although it isn’t going to be an easy game for them.
Expect to see Blough get off to a quick start and come through with a very good debut for the Boilermakers, which will keep him in as the starter moving forward.
