Get your popcorn ready, because the one and only Terrell Owens is lobbying for an opportunity to make a NFL comeback at the age of 41.
Following injuries to star wide receiver Dez Bryant and tight end Jason Witten, Owens had his agent do some due diligence by reaching out to the Dallas Cowboys to see whether he could be in play for the team.
“I’m not sure what the situation is,” Owens said during an appearance on The Rich Eisen Show. “My name may have come up in discussion as far as bringing me in. But again, a lot of people are going to factor in my age as far as why I can’t play.
“We all know what happened when I was there, and there were some things said where it kind of maybe fractured the relationship between myself and Witten and Romo. Time has passed, and hopefully, they know that I’ve moved on beyond that. Maybe, hopefully, they have. But for me, it’s all about giving myself an opportunity. That’s all I ever really wanted.”
Owens definitely has age against him, but it would be interesting to see what would happen if he were to return to the field.
After all, the Cowboys are plagued by injuries through two weeks this season, so they just may be desperate enough to give the old man the chance he has been waiting for.
If not, there is always Randy Moss.
