UCF dismisses star running back Will Stanback

The UCF Knights just cannot catch a break.

On Tuesday morning, head coach George O’Leary announced that star running back Will Stanback has been dismissed from the team. The loss of the Knights’ All-AAC rusher will only spell more trouble for the team’s dismal offense.

“William Stanback has been dismissed from the football team for continuous failure to comply with athletic policy and team rules,” a statement from the university stated, via the Orlando Sentinel.

There have yet to be details provided by the Knights’ coaching staff addressing the exact reasons for Stanback’s departure from the team.

O’Leary will officially address the media following Tuesday’s practice.

Last season as a sophomore, Stanback rushed for 697 yards and 10 touchdowns.

It wasn’t as easy this season, with Stanback recording only 11 yards on 12 carries before missing this past weekend’s loss to FCS Furman.
