Lane Kiffin has not been fired by Alabama

Lane Kiffin has seen his name dragged through rumor after rumor over the past 24 hours, with most of them leading to the final point that he has been fired from being the offensive coordinator of the Alabama Crimson Tide.

One of the most ludicrous rumors was that he was fired directly by Nick Saban due to sleeping with Saban’s daughter.

Contrary to those reports, TMZ put out a report that Alabama has not fired Kiffin. They contacted Josh Maxson, the director of Alabama football communications, who said that Kiffin is “obviously” still the teams offensive coordinator heading into Week 4 of the college football season.

Kiffin appears to be just fine and this could very well be yet another situation where the media made something out of nothing.

There is still the chance that things change and Maxson is simply making the safe quote to the media rather than giving away the plans for Kiffin at this point in time. More than likely, however, Kiffin will remain the teams offensive coordinator for the remainder of the season.

It doesn’t appear that there are huge issues like the rumors were stating. Obviously that is a good thing for Kiffin and the Crimson Tide, but it does take away some of the excitement surrounding the program when news broke that Kiffin had been fired.

Maxson went on to tell TMZ that he didn’t want to comment on any “stupid” or “crazy” rumors. That quote especially makes it sound like this entire situation caught fire for absolutely no reason.

All of that being said, it will be interesting to see how things unfold over the next few weeks.

It appears Kiffin is safe, however, and will continue being the teams offensive coordinator moving on into the season.
