The Tennessee Volunteers’ basketball team hasn’t had too great of an offseason.
After all of the turmoil with former head coach Donnie Tyndall was hit with allegations that launched a full-blown investigation into several programs that he once coached for, one being Tennessee, the Volunteers have struggled to keep some of their recruits and players from leaving the program.
They now to contend with one more player not being able to take the court in the early part of the season and possibly even longer. Freshman point guard Lamonte’ Turner has been ruled ineligible for the upcoming season.
He announced the news himself via Twitter Monday afternoon.
Blessed to be apart of such a great school and basketball program but I've been ruled ineligible for the 2015-16 season. Truly humbled! VFL🍊

Turner was a three-star guard for the class of 2015 and it now leaves first-year head coach, Rick Barnes, with a big dilemma. Off-ball guards Kevin Punter, Shembari Phillips, and Detrick Mostella will have to carry most of the load for the Volunteers going forward.
The Volunteers open the season on November 13 when they host UNC Asheville.
