Those who thought that Iowa’s blue collar defense would slow down Stanford in the Rose Bowl got a quick wakeup call when, on the first play from scrimmage, quarterback Kevin Hogan tossed a short slant to renaissance man Christian McCaffrey for what amounted to a 75-yard touchdown.
