Chip Kelly could be the next Cleveland Browns’ head coach

Chip Kelly was fired by the Philadelphia Eagles after a rough 2015 NFL season and will be searching for a new job this coming offseason. One team that is reportedly interested in hiring him is the Cleveland Browns, who are expected to fire Mike Pettine after their Week 17 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

According to a report from Pro Football Talk, the Browns are a team to watch this offseason for Kelly.

Cleveland would be a very intriguing landing spot for Kelly, especially with Johnny Manziel at the quarterback position. Manziel would fit perfectly into the up-tempo system that Kelly likes to run. He would also be a very dangerous runner in the system that Kelly would bring to the Browns.

There is no question that the Browns have to make a change. Pettine has not gotten the job done and there has been no reason to believe that he can turn things around.

Starting over and getting a fresh start under a new coach like Kelly would be big for the team. Kelly may not have the best reputation around the NFL after his tenure with the Eagles. The fans didn’t like him due to the roster overhaul that he made, although some of the struggles were not his fault this year.

Kelly could use a fresh start as well and joining the Browns could be exactly what the doctor ordered.

Expect to hear plenty of rumors about Kelly following Week 17 as many teams head toward the offseason. It will be intriguing to see what the upcoming offseason hold for the Browns, but it certainly sounds like some major changes are on the horizon.
