Despite the offense finishing in the top half of the nation, NC State dropped a bit of a bombshell on Sunday with the firing of offensive coordinator Matt Canada.
The offense averaged 412.5 yards per game this past season, and has seen an increase in production in each year that Canada has handled play-calling duties. The Wolfpack also averaged 33 points per game in 2015, another increase over the previous years.
It’s just weird for him to be let go after a productive season.
That being said, he won’t be unemployed for long. Because of his success at NC State, Canada is sure to lock an offensive coordinator position pretty fast. He’s one of the best options now available on the market, and will have a number of teams clamoring for his services.
If only we knew why he was let go in the first place.
