Northern Illinois hires new offensive coordinator

Northern Illinois is bringing aboard an up-and-coming coach as the new offensive coordinator of the Huskies for the 2016 season.

The school is reportedly hiring North Carolina State offensive line coach Mike Uremovich as the new offensive coordinator. The news comes via USA Today’s Dan Wolken.

Uremovich is a Northern Illinois alum, and returns to the school where he was a running backs coach and special teams coordinator during their run to the Orange Bowl in 2012.

Uremovich replaces Bob Cole, who was relieved of his duties after the team’s 55-7 blowout loss to Boise State in the Poinsettia Bowl. The Huskies are going to be expected to compete in the MAC once again in 2016, and Uremovich will have to come forward with a great gameplan each week to compete against the likes of Toledo and Bowling Green, among other programs.
